Rei = Spirit, Soul, and Universal Energy.
Ki = Life Energy, the bonding of
Body, Mind and Spirit.A little about what Reiki is:
Reiki is a form of
Natural/Holistic healing which transfers the universal life energy to the body. By
restoring the balance of natural energy in the body it promotes healing and wholeness of
the body-mind-spirit.
Reiki is not a religion nor is it closely related to any. I understand it to be God's will
if it works or doesn't though. Sometimes a person isn't supposed to get well
or something isn't meant to be changed. I think God knows I'm
only using a tool he gave me and I'm not trying to go against his will.
There are several roads of thought about different Reiki methods ie: Traditional, non
traditional etc. I may be challenged on this statement, but they probably all work equally
well. If there is a difference it may lay with the practioner rather than the method, just
like some doctors are better than others.
If you had to compare Reiki to something else to understand it you might use
Massage therapy. Where Massage therapy uses the moving hand to sooth and
manipulate mussles, etc.
Reiki channels the universal energy using the hands of the practioner which balances
the energy in the receiver which promotes healing and wholeness of the
body-mind-spirit. Physical body contact is not completely necessary.
The combination of the two might be very effective.
Reiki can be sent over great distances to the receiver.
The person applying Reiki does not heal the receiver. The receiver heals
their self.
Reiki "may" not work unless the
recipient believes it will work.
This is my personal opinion and is not what is universally taught. I believe if I want
something to work there is a much better chance it WILL work than if I had
no opinion or was skeptical, but just giving it a try.
What I was taught is that if a person outwardly accepts a healing what ever happens is
what is meant happen. A person can outwardly accept a healing, but inwardly block the
energy because their subconscious won't let them believe due to other previous
conditioning.
Reiki is completely safe and although there can sometimes be a short temporary
intensification of pain, it is short lived.
Reiki should be applied immediately, when possible, to promote faster healing. The
possibility that a person should seek professional medical attention should never be
ignored, but early application may make the illness, injury etc. heal faster.
Long term illnesses may need long term care.
Most illnesses may require at least four treatments done on four consecutive days if
possible. Marked improvement should be noticed after the third day.
Reiki works best when applied in a calm, quiet environment.
Reiki can reduce stress and promote relaxation. You don't have to be ill for Reiki to
still be beneficial.
